The book will captivate you; make you cry and even laugh as you walk through the pages of his life that shaped him into the strong youth mentor he is today.  Calvin hopes that after reading his book that the reader will have a better understanding of him and his battle with HIV. He hopes that his book will be the catalyst of change and healing in that person’s life.

Devin T. Robinson X

My mother died when I was 12. The morning after she died, my father cancelled child support and has refused to call me or give back over 30,000$ of back payment. My oldest sister and I went to my father for support and he told a 12 year old boy "I do not want you". From that day, Chasity, my sister took care of me, my niece, my nephew, my younger sister, my cousin, my cousin’s son and a friend of the family all under her income.
We were never rich and never dirt poor. She never gave up on us and showed nothing but love. Passion = Chasity Robinson. She took care of us because of passion and nothing else. No one would have done a better job and now look at the result. I am on my way to becoming financially stable enough to take care of her and put money into her business.
People sometimes ask me “why do you care so much”; the answer is, because my sister showed me that you can care for someone without expecting a return. To my young women out there, she did this without a man and is still going on strong. She was not old when she started. She was only 18 years old and was the mother of many. Now, because of her, I fight life with my guns blazing. I decided to take revenge on the world but in a different way. How did I find my revenge? I found a way to make a difference in the hearts of many and show people that I can care about them without expecting anything. The two things that I care most about are H.I.V and Black History. Two of the things that is lost in the media and minds of youth.
In college I found refuge in learning about my culture in the great conference and organization called the Florida African American Student Association. That fed my African spirit. Yet there was a void. I needed to fulfill that empty space. I did not do enough to accomplish my revenge. I was not touching enough of people. I needed to help more people.
The springboard that first pushed me into this main idea of using the performing arts happened when I went to a Florida Department of Health/Comprehensive AIDS Program city mobilization meeting a year ago. I went there because I was apart of the F.A.A.S.A. We wanted to incorporate H.I.V information in the upcoming conference. There I met Elizabeth Robinson. At the time she was the current Regional Minority AIDS Director. I noticed that the method of nasty picture or adult figures attempting to educate youth about H.I.V/Sex did not seem to be effective. Rather than complaining I decided to make a difference and find a solution to educate/entertain people about H.I.V and Black history.

In less than three years, I have appeared on Apollo, BET, MTV, UPN, NBC, National Public Radio,Seventeen Magazine, 2007/2008 Madison's Who's Who of Professionals and business executives, over eleven newspapers, 10 radio stations and 4 magazines all for my work because of my pain. "Egypt"
